The Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival is an organization devoted to presenting and promoting high-quality chamber music performances in the Lake Region of Western Maine. Founded in 1972 by bassoonist Homer Pence and other professional musicians who summered in the region, and administered by a board of local volunteers, SLLMF has grown into a well-known and popular institution. Continuity has been maintained since the early years through the ongoing involvement of a core group of musicians. Mihae Lee, pianist with the festival for the past 20 years and Artistic Director of the Essex Winter Series in Connecticut, is the new Music Director. Every summer SLLMF presents a 5-week series of chamber music concerts at the Deertrees Theatre in Harrison, Maine. This series is held on Tuesday evenings during the last three weeks of July and the first two weeks of August.

Over the last 77 years, Shawnee Peak has become home to generations of skiers and riders. Families have grown up side-by-side on the slopes, and every season we rededicate ourselves to introducing Shawnee Peak to a new group of skiers and riders.
That dedication also includes adding to what we already offer. This season we are running a brand new triple beginner chair and we’re added to our snow fleet with 3 new fan guns and 40 now low-3 tower guns.
Its hard to sum up the feeling of Shawnee Peak in writting- so don’t take our word for it. If you have not yet made it to Shawnee Peak come and find the magic for yourself

It all started in a ski shop…well actually Becca and Scott have known each other since childhood but their relationship blossomed in the always romantic setting of burning p-tex candles and smelly rental boots. Scott was a slow learner. For Christmas one year he gave Becca a copy of a magazine and wrote: “To Becca, Please stop hugging me. Merry X-Mas.” Becca used the folded magazine as a shim under her couch for a couple of years. Along the way they found that they worked really well together. Their strengths and weakness’ complemented each other and their relationship grew. Soon it was serious. A baby boy was born and the dream of owning a ski and paddle shop was born as well.
The path to owning a business can sometimes be a winding one. It can be hard walking away from what you know, harder still walking away from relationships forged over decades, but often as one door closes another opens. Bolstered by the support of family, friends and former customers Becca and Scott took the dream of a new shop and made it into a reality.

We’ve built Team Long Run on a few ideas.
In the words of one of our former athletes, running helps a kid “discover their own worth and capability.” Running is one of the few remaining activities available to kids that unfailingly reward consistency and sacrifice. Please re-read that last sentence and consider how important that is today. Running has always been a refiner’s fire; the hotter it burns, the purer the gold.
Running is healthy and natural. Given proper guidance and time, anyone can enjoy life-quality benefits from running… especially kids. Improved concentration, time-management, confidence, fitness, sleep, nutrition, and pure grit are just a few of the rewards a runner earns, and should happily expect.
Running provides a fool-proof opportunity to set goals and honestly assess progress.

The current Harrison Block Building was built in 1923. The Ballroom and it’s adjoining rooms were used by the Rebekahs and Odd Fellows as their meeting rooms. It also served for town meetings and festive social gatherings. In 1994 Nan Brett became owner of The Ballroom. Its purpose, now, is to provide an arena to nurture a spectrum of movement, expressive, and performing arts techniques. The Ballroom’s 2,000 square foot main floor, mirrored wall, great acoustics, and 16-foot-high ceilings with molded plaster decorative work, provides a great venue for movement classes, performances, meetings and social gatherings. In addition to the original Ballroom, in 2001 Nan purchased the neighboring function room which had been converted to residential and office use in the 1970s. Extensive renovation has restored this room to its original beauty. The addition of this large room with kitchen facilities has allowed for further expansion of classes and functions at The Ballroom.
