Event: LRMS Pancake Breakfast

Description: The Lake Region Middle School's National Junior Honor Society will host a pancake breakfast from 7:00-11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 5 at Songo Locks Elementary School in Naples. The NJHS students are raising money for an upcoming trip to Washington, D.C. Tickets to the flapjack fund raiser are $5/person or $20 for a family of four or more. Event: Earth Day hike at Bald Pate Mountain Preserve

Description: You are invited to join Loon Echo Land Trust and friends for an Earth Day hike at Bald Pate Mountain Preserve in South Bridgton. The hike is part of the Bridgton Community Center’s Earth Day celebration. See details below. Happy Earth Day! Tuesday, April 22nd Bald Pate Mtn Hike- 3 to 5 PM Meet at the Community Center on Depot St. in Bridgton at 2:45 PM to carpool using an Enterprise Van, or go directly to Bald Pate Mtn parking lot on Route 107 in South Bridgton, just past Five Fields Apple Orchard. The hike will last approximately 1.5 hours with a 300 foot elevation gain. Families and leashed dogs are welcome. Sections of trail and the parking lot have residual snow, so please wear proper footwear. Hikers may bring a story or poem about the Earth or environment to share at the summit. Event: Earth Day

Description: The day begins at 9 AM and runs to 5 PM. Activities include displays on organic and natural products, farmer’s market options, carbon footprint reductions, area hikes and conservation efforts, and local recycling, as well as Tai Chi demonstrations, a theatre with environmental video clips, and a bottle and can redemption site for donations to the Pondicherry Park Project. Stop in with your returnables to help the park effort! Area restaurants including Main Street Variety, Morning Dew Natural Foods, Beef and Ski, Brenda’s Delightful Café, Trailside Restaurant, Lake Region House of Pizza and the Tannery Pub will feature an Earth Day lunch or dinner special. A volunteer is needed to pick up and return a Toyota hybrid on Riverside Street in Portland for the Community Center festivities. Event: Animal Tracking Programs

Description: Interpreting animal sign: Join David Brown, a renowned tracker and naturalist, for an introduction to tracking and interpreting animal sign. Part 1, on Friday, February 22 at 7 p.m., will be held at the LEA Lakes Center, 230 Main St., and will introduce participants to Maine mammals and to identifying tracks, scat, and sign. Part II, Saturday, February 23 at 9 a.m., is a three-hour outdoor workshop at the Holt Pond Preserve. Meet at LEA and carpool to the preserve. Dress warmly and bring a snack, water and/or something warm to drink. Bring snowshoes or borrow LEA's (first come, first serve). Cost: $5 for LEA members; $15 for non-members.

Event: Animal Tracking Programs

Description: Collect meaningful data in our free Citizen Science program: Join educator and conservation biologist Bridie McGreavy on Thursday, Jan. 17; Friday, February 15, and Friday, March 14 for animal monitoring at the Holt Pond Nature Preserve. This effort is part of a long-term monitoring program to confirm and measure animal species' presence and abundance at the preserve. Participants will learn basic track identification and field research skill. Meet at 10 a.m. at LEA's office at 230 Main St., Bridgton.
